I will share with you the recent comments on the french forum about ls3/5a and ss amplifiers.
It seems that the ls3/5a is basically easier to drive with ss amplifier than a lot of speakers because of its high and relatively constant impedance.
Many prefer to drive them with tube amplifiers, however.
ss or tube, ls3/5a deserve the best, because they really express the musicality of both source and amplifier.

From my experience, the following list the descending order of amps I owned that works with LS3/5A. Diva Blue Sky, Radford STA15, Leak TL12 Plus, Quad II, Leak Stereo 20, Quad II-40, Cyrus III+PSU, Marantz 8B. So mostly tube amp.
SS amp that sound good with LS3/5A, apart from Naim, I would like to add Bryston B-60.

The old 1980s Luxman ss amps by Miura would qualify too I think.

Hi Jo, I am very interested and i wish you could comment on how the Diva Blue sky sounds like driving the Ls3/5a mated with the AB-1?

Hi Odaey, Diva Blue Sky is a EL34 pp with 50W output, it is claimed to have a phenomenon damping factor that the designer dare not published it. Soundwise is beyond believe as I could drive my LS to very loud level without loosing its known composure. It is very balance in bandwidth. I guess the most significant differences I can gather against my other amps was its bass and height reproduction being most amazingly special. Its mids are more or less as good as any good vintage amp driving the LS, but it is in the extremes that Diva wins my heart without loosing its specialty in the mids.

Thanks for sharing your insights JO It's been a common opinion that 2 pairs of power tubes seems to bring out the best of the Ls3/5a with or without the AB-1. I have heard a lot of good words about the JJKt-77 with regards to it's sound though quality control and reliability are major issues for these tubes. Mossback has had positive results with these tubes. I have tried them on all my eL34 amps and i have similar praises for them. These tubes gives me the same sensation of additional height and bass the way you describe the DBS. Interesting to think how these tubes would sound with the Blue Sky. Splendor, Just Wishfull thinking

Musical Fidelity MA50s Class A mono blocks. Have no experience of other amps for the LS3/5a but these classy amps from the 1980s (rebuilt of course) offer a sound to die for.
