Wow! It would be an interesting listen to that said combo. Is the set-up Lito's? Maybe Moz can invite Lito to join this forum since I know his got lots of vintage stuff to offer too to help other members looking for vintage stuff and the likes -- even an LS3/5A? Yes, the system belongs to lito G. and the Audio research electronics are for sale but when i asked him how much he intends to sell the Ls3/5a+ab1 he said they were not for sale and he intends to keep them.

To my limited experience, I found all tube amplifers are good for LS 3/5A, and found that Leak tube amplifiers are better in performance, and also found the Leak TL12.1 and TL50 plus are the best amongst Leak Gears.. ;D What are these amplifiers TL12.1 and TL50 ?

Lorenzo, if I may, these are "power amplifiers" from Leak, a british amp maker. You can search these in the net and it would not be difficut to find. In fact, if you are interested in some othe vintage stuff go to: www.hifilit.com You'll get pictures and descriptions of many other vintage stuff. Hope this helps

The Quad II give me a very easy, musical and romantic sound which I like when I just want to relax and not be anal about audio. ______________________________________________________ Agreed! But if you coupling with Quad 22 preamp which MUST in perfect working condition, it will be another world of performance, trust me.. ;D ;D So I heard also from another QII & 22 owner. I have been looking for good condition Q22's since. Early this year, someone offered me a QCII which is the predecessor of the Quad 22 but the price was too high. With your recommendation, I think I'll relly be looking for that Q22.

This Single Ended 6BM8 Calrad Integrated is sweet sounding, clear yet musical. Some amps that tend towards the clear side of the spectrum loose the musicality but not this one. It's a fairly simple design but the wiring and component location is well thought out.

....we tried Stirlings with a variety of amps - both tube and ss like blue circles and lavardins. Hi, In the french group, we think that the Lavardins (all of them??) are very fine, very accurate for the tone, the harmonics, but that they do not deliver enough power for the ls3/5a. There seems to be a faulty dynamic in this association due to the low sensitivity of the LS. Our french Big Chief forum administrator "Le Taulier", JérômeB, always says that the best for him is a lot of power for a ls3/5a, even if it will not accept more than 25 watts without burning.

You won't regret if you got a Quad 22 which in perfect working condition, since some it's Hunts coupling capacitors shall be leaked, I had checked thoroughly and fully restored.

Very nice condition amps you have there Dennis. Vintage equipment, if restored to the original specs can indeed go head to head (and sometimes even beat) many of today's modern amps.
It's a pity that most people brush off the sound of vintage amps when what they heard are specimen whose parts have drifted off spec already, and therefore does not show the full potential and musicality these amps actually have.

The ARC electronics and Ls3/5a tandem seems to be not so exploited as compared with other vintage amps. I use to drive my Ls3/5a+AB1 with ARC Ls2 -ph1 and a D-70 amp and never complained about dynamics lacking on the Ls.
