Thanks Richard. Good thing that the LS is a small speaker for a smaller room. I also think that the real challenge to audio-ing is how to make any speaker vis-a-vis the room sound decent enough to make music .

Sure looks an audio studio! Probably it would be good if you can oblige us a little more. I'm curious about those columns, bass traps are they? Those low rise slotted thin membranes what are those? They look like cd racks? Roll down panels on each side. What do those crystals do? There seems to be more space in-between the LS and the stands? What material is in-between them? There are only three why not four? As I see it (ohs get alerted on this) the AB-1s are slightly higher than the LS base to the stands. What's the column in the center? The LS seems close much to close to the side walls, but the walls directly on the side of the LS are loaded with "diffusers"? HOw far is the listening position to the LS? Sorry to trouble you with these questions. Just can't help it. Hi Splendor, I have just join the group, apologise for late reply if you still needs answer to the above questions of yours, here it is. Firstly, I must thank Grant and Richard for the photos of my listening rooms. The one from Grant belongs to my old house. I have moved to a new house in KL city, what Richard has were photos of my new listening room. This explained why it is different. The corner of the room has stacked tube traps in absorbing mode, adjacent to it is placed at 1st reflection in front wall, then at the centre is a carboard tube recycled from Stewart screen. The new room has far less room treatment than my old room. After mucking about with room acoustics, I decided to start afresh with zero room treatment in my new room. So I ended up with those that is shown in Richard's photo. The crystals on top of the LS has audible effects but it is only apparent after you optimised the placement of your LS and your room acoustics. They must be in absolute alignment horzontal, plain and vertical. Outer crystal like Cleopetra's needle is great for violin and strings instrument. The geodesic dome outer crystal is good in the spread of soundstaging. Try this and see if it works on yours. There is optimum spacing for LS so that they sounded best. In so doing, they are pushed close to the side walls. But due to LS's dynamic range, it is less detrimental than having them placed too close together, you lost coherency in transparency relative to bandwidth if you place them too close. So to counter this issue, I added diffusers to side wall. The thin slots filled with wedged absorbing forms in alternate stage is what proved to work best so far. I hope this explained some of your questions. If you have more, I would be more than happy to answer you.

Hi JO Ki. You are one of our esteemed references to the LS3/5A sound.
Thanks for obliging my questions. Indeed, what you did or have done helps most of us "fine tune" our set-up placements to learn more how to optimize the LS sound.
Thanks a bundle, and Welcome!!!

Hi Splendor, Thank you for your high regards, I wish I could live up to it. What I did was meant to please myself, and if it can also please others, I am glad. At the end of the day, it is what makes 'musical sense' to you.
Each and anyone of us has differential listening intelligence, the reason for differential listening parameters. Some needs just good tonality only, some needs not just tonal balance but soundstaging also, and other needs imagine density, tonality, dynamics contrast, wide bandwidth and soundstaging, etc... the whole lot. I am one of those that needs all of those I know about sound and they must be there to get into the music, so I have to try harder than most. Is it good? I don't know myself. I am still learning and exploring the limits of what LS3/5A can give me. I wish I could visit allfellowmembers in Philippines and learn from you too.

Well, I have seen everything now. A 'LS3/5a Obsessive' of the first order... OK, some of the electrical connections make a modicum of sense, but crystals on speakers? This is going just too far. In my part of the Christian West, this use of crystals for their 'energy', calming effects', etc. is looked upon a very odd. To Write here that they have an effect of the sound of a loudspeaker is, frankly, ridiculous There is a well know expression used in Western countries. 'Get a life.' I feel this may well apply here.
