There's going to be an LS 3/5a show room and listening sessions with the following old LS speakers, to wit: Rogers 15 and 11 ohm gold tag; spendor 11 and 15 ohms, and Harbeth Gold Pro, and the Rogers 60th (new anniversary Rogers LS3/5a).
There's going to be a formidable line up of amps; Leak 12.1; Leak 12Plus; Radford STA15, Quad II, and McIntosh 240. The only ap that ain't there is the Dynaco ST70.
Blue Sky Diva amp will also be on to drive both the 11 and 15 ohm LSs. Whatta show this is going to be in KL on the July 25-27, 2008 at the Mariott.
Who's going? Grant? Oscar? Rodney?

Wish I could but I'm in no position to go. Should be a great experience. Lets plan it well next time and i'll really consider if it's a group trip.

Just got word from Jo Ki what he is planning on the listening sessions between 11 and 15 ohms Rogers and Spendors, and the 11 ohm pro gold Harbeth. This would probably include the 60th Rogers hopefully in some "shoot-out" of sorts which Jo Ki is very cautiously proposing.
He will let visiting folks to the room hear these speakers being driven by any of these amps and mostly score them points like in a "shoot-out" as I understand him saying in his post. He said while scores are scores, the results should not be treated as something "definitive" as to which is the best. As I understand him, he wants people to simply know what "differences" there may be in sound to guide them in the future as to which amps goes to which ohm rating well to produce the best out of the LS3/5a. Fair enough.
So let's see how things will pan out. I bet there are some very good ears there like K Ng's and many others who will listen with anticipation and await the scores. Tempted to say "verdict." Expect to see some updates from them if you can access the malaysian LS club or here as they are reported. Grant be ready for this! I haven't "seen" you here lately, ha ha!
Mukhang panay DSLR ang hawak natin ngayon ha? Very addicting kaya!

Latest from Jo Ki is he's decided to let go of the Harbeth GP and replace it with the Kef Piano Black LE. I said this is not standard LS because the cabs are lacquered and heavier. If you recall, the lacquered Rogers 11 ohm almost equaled the Chartwell (15 ohms) with barely a point in difference I believe. KK was saying the .5 difference was not significant and called in a tie for both Rogers and Chartwell in second place.
Nothing's changed. Rogers, spendor, and Kef ltd. will suppose take their rounds, and let's see if the Kef Piano will make it better than the rest?

Jo Ki makes a comparo between the Kef Piano and the Kef Rosewood. You guys must read it as backgrounder to the upcoming show in malaysia featuring the LS3/5a. The Kef Piano will be playing with spendor and rogers. People will come for a listen and let's see which one(s) will be their fav.
