WOW! Finally, at long last, a place we can all call "home" to all LS3/5A lovers and music enthusiasts in the Philippines! There's a UK group, Malaysian, and Thai, and just NOW, from audiophile devotees with a "twist," a pinoy LS3/5A forum. Congratulations to MOZ and all lovers of music on vintage tubes for ushering a "new" era for this "old" venerable speakers. The real "twist" here is our undying fervor and passion for these strange "cat coffin" of a speaker that refuses to get buried over the wickedness of time.
This lot of LS lovers is not unlike the BBC guys who sired these speakers. As we all know, way back in 1974 was it? the BBC made a research on how to make broadcast monitor speakers
because they could not find the "right" speakers from commercial manufacturers for their specific "needs."
As I understand it (correctly I hope), the BBC wanted a small speaker that could mimic voice and music as naturally as someone listening from a concert hall or in any other place where music is being aired "live" and recorded. Remember that the BBC had more "live" music presentations than recorded ones. In America, it's the opposite!
It is in "this" same light that we music lovers want to hear our music; never mind if it's only a vicarious "almost there" fleshing out of some of the best musical creations of our time, it has pleasantly come through our senses, endearing us ever so closely to the music of our hearts. It is largely through music that we have come to avoid the complexities of audio and "hifi" all these years I think.
So? As a lover (and who isn't?) of good music, I think this little pretentious giant of a speaker has educated me a lot about the appreciation of music; how one easily gets connected to the music between our past "live" musical experiences, and the ones we hear from these speakers. To me, it conjures (should) up the same thing!
Indeed, one can't help but get excited as I am now about a truly pinoy LS group. It's like a special home (for the aged, hoy yong speakers lang ha!) to all music lovers who prefers nothing else but the music only, and if I may also "only" thru the LS3/5A!
Wow, I'm sure this site will be another "musical experience" for those who love music, and at the same time think audio!
